Laveleye Victor, born on November 6 1894 and died on 14 December 1945 , is a political figure Belgian and a figure of resistance during the Second World War.
He is councilor of St. Giles in 1926 , president of the Liberal Party in 1936 and Minister of Justice in 1937. To Paul-Henri Spaak , from Laveleye is a key architect of the democratic victory against Leon Degrelle in 1936.
During the war he fled to London , where he was announcer for Radio Belgium. On 14 January 1941 , he asked all Belgians to choose the letter V as a rallying point "Because V is the first letter of Victory in French and Vrijheid (freedom) in Flemish, Walloons and Flemings as walk in now hand in hand, two things that are the consequence of each other, the victory that will make you the freedom ... . This is the beginning of the campaign of V which will show the "V" graffiti on the walls of Belgium and then across the Europe. Winston Churchill will itself the "V" emblem.
