The Greeks gave the name of the vestibule or porch Prodromos. It was a sort of courtyard between the entrance and the highway. It received those who came to greet the host, so that, without going inside, they did not stay on the street.

Not found in the vestibule of castles and manors feudal, where the stairs are hidden screws, nor in the houses, where the front door opened directly onto the dining room or kitchen.
