Tympanum
The word eardrum can have several meanings:
- in anatomy , particularly in ENT :
- the tympanum is the membrane that transmits the vibration of the air to the ossicles of the ear average;
- tensor tympani muscle or muscle of the hammer is a muscle of the middle ear ;
- in architecture , the tympanum is a piece of filling a vault.
- in print , on the hand press letterpress, lithographic and sometimes traditional, the eardrum was a mobile component that receives the sheet of printing paper, which was applied on the chilly , all falling back on the printing form.
