Discovery
The tomb was discovered by a local family, the Abd el-Rasul, who used the mummies of valuables such as stock they sold on the antiquities market. This was the reason for a government investigation to trace the source of these objects.
The tomb was inspected in emergencies (48 hours after its official discovery in 1881) by Emile Brugsch , with orders to ensure that no other antiquity is sold, then it was walled in by rocks until his reopening in 1938. Since 1998 a team led by Germany and Russia Erhart Graefe is working to preserve .
