It's in the valley of kings lie the tombs of the pharaohs of the New Kingdom , from Thutmose I. to Ramesses XI. These tombs represent the eternal home of the pharaohs are buried there. These tombs are not only dedicated to the kings of ancient Egypt , but also queens (see also Valley of the Queens ), princes and dignitaries (nobles, artisans, see also Valley of the nobles ). However the architecture of these tombs depended heavily on seniority of the deceased, at the highest level with the tombs of pharaohs.
The common architecture of these tombs is the following. Admission is characterized by a main door opening onto a long sloping corridor, composed of twelve doorways, symbolizing a corridor cutting into twelve sections corresponding to the twelve hours of the night. Each section is decorated with different themes from the Book of Amduat describing the journey of the sun god in the realm of the dead to revive the beginning of each day. The end of this corridor leads to a hallway giving access to various rooms contained in the tomb. The sarcophagus Royal, containing the mummy Royal is located in the rearmost room, also decorated with narratives of the Book of Amduat.
