The star of David ( Hebrew : : or literally "Shield of David") is the symbol of Judaism. It consists of two equilateral triangles: one pointing upward and one downward. Today, it is found particularly on the flag of the State of Israel.
It represents, according to Jewish tradition, the emblem of King David and would be both a symbol of the Messiah (Davidic lineage).
One could say that "Star of David" is historical, while the term "Seal of Solomon" has a connotation, a value, a magical atmosphere. Same denotation but different connotations.

The six-pointed star in the Hindu tradition, symbolizes, or Brahma , the creator god, or the Hindu trinity, the Trimurti (source: myth = mithya a Handbook of Hindu Mythology, Dr Devdutt Pattanaik), or is a symbol Shiva. So it's a fairly common symbol in India , high-sounding religious and sacred, like the swastika.
Symbolism in Christianity
This symbol was also used by Christians. He represented the harmony between the human trinity and the divine trinity.
The Star of Brewers
Its use is attested from 1397 in the community of brewers. The flag of Burundi in its center has three stars of David, symbolizing the three ethnic groups of countries ( Tutsis , Hutus and Pygmies ), the Tutsi people of Jewish descent and three existing Jewish kingdoms in the death of Solomon (The Kingdom of Israel The Kingdom of Judea and the Kingdom of Kush).
Trivia
Until the fifteenth century , the star of David or Seal of Solomon was a magical protective symbol, represented on amulets. She is now the representation of Judaism, as is the crucifix in Christianity, after the expulsion of Jews from Spain in the fifteenth century , and through the development of printing.
