The group of Rhaeto-Romance languages is part of the Romance languages. It identifies three languages spoken in Switzerland and in northern Italy , within the arc downhill or in its vicinity, that is to say, in the area of the ancient Roman province of Rhaetia.

The variety of internal linguistic family and the historical reasons and genetic (Friulian knew no substrate Rhaetian) mean that we sometimes prefer the name Rhaeto-Friulian, more stringent, the traditional name Romansh. Notes References
