Registering Myazedi

The inclusion of Myazedi (also called "registration Rajakuma" or "stone inscription of Gubyaukgyi") is the oldest epigraphic evidence of Burma. It is in the pagoda Myazedi (Myazedi means " stupa Jade "), to Myinpagan (south of Bagan ) and dates back to 1113.

It is a monument square, bearing the same text on each side, in four different languages: Pali , Mon , Burmese and ancient Pyu. At the time of its discovery, the Pyu writing was not yet deciphered, which earned the nickname the stele of " Rosetta Stone of Burma. "

The text is a dedication Rajakuma prince (son of King Kyanzittha ) a statue of Buddha in the temple of gold Gubyaukgyi, which he also attributes three villages.

The stele is in duplicate. The first is still near the pagoda Myadezi, under cover, the second is exposed in the Archaeological Museum of Bagan.
