History

In 1975, four journalists, Gerard Aime, Patrice Aoust, Bone Philippe and Marie-Paule Nougaret publish a first book, practically at the author, with the support of the library Parallels. The Catalogue of Resources , in three volumes, sales will exceed 100 000 and cause the birth of Alternatives Publishing and dissemination of the same name. Today, the first two authors of this book still animate editions Alternatives.

After a journey that will see the disappearance of the diffusion Alternative, a merger with the publisher Syros, the resumption of full independence in 1995, Alternatives is now a structure which produces about thirty new titles a year and a dozen editions. Since March 30, 2006, Editions Alternatives joined the group Gallimard.

Ecology practice, architecture, design, photography, calligraphy, handbooks ... the predilections of successive editions Alternatives without obvious logic, to individual desires, pleasure, and air time.

Since 1975, Alternatives has published nearly 700 titles, half of which are still available. Each of these books was a meeting, a passion, often shared with a sufficient number of readers to perpetuate the desire to explore and discover.
