The Palladian Villas are villas set in Veneto ( Italy ), mainly in the province of Vicenza , designed by architect Andrea Palladio (1508 - 1580).
These villas and the historic center of the city of Vicenza have been inscribed on the World Heritage List of UNESCO in 1994 , with an extension two years later.
The "villas" of Veneto
The term villa has always been used to describe the house in the country, as distinct from that of the city, called the palace , which was generally located in Venice.
Several noble families who built a Palladian villa also had a palace on the Grand Canal in Venice and in most cases, their family name has been attached to the title of the palace and the villa, a palace where Barbaro and Foscari Palace in Venice, Villa Barbaro and Villa Foscari in Venice.
