Migration
Migration is a movement. We distinguish:
- the human migration : emigration , immigration , when immigration outweighed emigration ( net migration positive), we speak of net immigration or net migration , when migration outweighs immigration ( balance migration negative), one speaks of net emigration or migration deficit.
- The Germanic migrations are all movements of Germanic peoples are doing from the first millennium BCE and until the seventh century;
- The pastoral migrations , seasonal agricultural practice;
- In urban geography , the commuting is a phenomenon characteristic of large urban and spatial division of activities;
- the animal migration.
The term is also used in the following areas:
- in materials science , the migration (material) corresponds to a movement of chemical species;
- in seismology , the seismic migration is a process for improving the seismic imaging commonly used in seismic oil;
- in computing , a migration is the passage of an existing state of information system or an application to a defined target in a project or program ;
- in astronomy , the planetary migration is changing the orbit of a proto-planet toward the center or toward the edge of the accretion disk in which it is formed, which could explain including exoplanets like hot Jupiter.
