Lararium
The lararium is an altar the Romans (the Etruscan culture ) reserved the cult of the Lares , the gods of the hearth. A lararium is located in the house Vettii at Pompeii. It looks like a small temple surrounded by two columns surmounted by a triangular pediment. In the center, the ancestor of the family, dressed in a toga , made a libation , surrounded by gods Lares dancing taking in hand a rhyton (cornucopia). Bottom figure represents a snake engineering from the owner.
