Arch Labn, represented by Catherwood

Labn is a ceremonial center of civilization in ruins Maya in the state of Yucatan in Mexico.

Labn is located southwest of the state, south of Uxmal , at coordinates 89.35 and 20.09.6 north west.

The site hosts a large two-story palace, some temples, pyramids and a sort of triumphal arch decorated. The architectural style is Puuc and excessive use of nesting structures tailored stones and paintings including masks Chac , the rain god with the long nose.

The site was built during the classic period finish. A date corresponding to 862 is inscribed in the palace.

The first written reference to Labn is due to John Lloyd Stephens , who visited the site with artist Frederick Catherwood in 1842.

The site is open for sightseeing.
