Andrew John Perello , or Jonone Jon156, is a graffiti artist and painter American , born in 1963 in New York . Founder of the All Starz 156 which is initially the only member in New York Biography

Originally from the Dominican , John Perello was born in the district of Harlem in New York in 1963. It begins in the world of graffiti in 17 years with his childhood friend White Man , tagging his name followed by Jon 156 (his street) on walls and trains in his neighborhood, and those of all New York . "The subway is a museum that runs through the city. "

It creates the graffiti collective All Starz 156 in 1984 to bring together their passion, painting trains at night and forget their problems, including drugs . It then requires knowledge of Bando , residing in New York at this time. Following an invitation from the latter, it saves money and came to Paris in 1987 . It will start with him graffer, Boxer and the BBC Crew . He began his work as a painter on canvas in a workshop at the Hospital ephemeral , , with A-One , Sharp, Ash , and Jayon Skki, without giving up the graffiti. Very quickly, he made his name in artistic circles in Paris with his works on canvas in the exhibition and is exhibited in 1990 at Gallery 45 of Gleditsch Berlin and participated in 1991 in Paris Graffiti exhibition, rue Chapon in Paris. Therefore, it is constantly exposed to the world: Tokyo , Monaco , Paris, Geneva, New York, Hong Kong or Brussels.

At an auction at the Artcurial 6 June 2007 , Match Point, a large canvas (214.50 x 190 cm) performed at the Hospital ephemeral in 1993 , was kidnapped by a New York collector for the sum of 24 800 , a world record for the artist. This auction is also the highest bid ever received in France for a work of graffiti art .

Quotes

Jonone paint on a Thalys to launch the line Amsterdam / Cologne
"When I arrived in Paris in 1987, people were a little disappointed (laughs) I came from New York, so they saw me as the representative of New York graffiti. Even if it's true, I am primarily Jonone and basta! What I did was not representative of what they could imagine, I was more free than technical, I was in the imagination. As I had the technique, I could leave behind and create, combine hundreds of information, graphics take shortcuts while leaving me with the flow. Today, I belong to the old school. I work in a comfortable, at ease with lettering or anything else. I am no longer obliged to prove anything: my past speaks for me. On the other hand, I do not want to spend my time on the claim. "

- JonOne, Nova Mag Interview for October 2004 has the opportunity of exposure to the Night and Day Speerstra gallery .

"I received no arts education. When I tagging trains in New York, I could not imagine that one day I would express myself on the canvas. What really got me was the tag to see others painted graffiti throughout the city. The school that I went was very strict. And so boring! I remember at the time, those on the street had freedom. I did not want what America offered me: a job, a nice suit and a nice house. I met A-One (Anthony Clark 1964-2001). He used to hang out with Jean-Michel Basquiat (Brooklyn, New York, December 22, 1960 to August 12, 1988). A-one was the link between the street and the art world. He traveled in Europe and returned with a lot of money, just through his art. I listened to accounts of his travels and my eyes gleamed with envy. At that time in New York, I like a lot today: I was hanging in front of my building. In these times, I either I did not go out of my neighborhood. Thanks to A-One, I started visiting exhibitions, to feed my vision of what is happening in this world. I started taking my work seriously, not to be regarded as vandalism, but simply as art. "
