Fred Vargas, whose real name Frdrique Audoin-Rouzeau, born 7 June 1957 in Paris , is a woman of letters French. Author of novels with strong success, she decided, with "Vargas," the same nickname as her twin sister Joelle, painter known contemporary of Jo Vargas. This nickname refers to Maria Vargas, a character played by actress Ava Gardner in the film The Barefoot Contessa.
