Son of a military leader of the Spanish Republic, he joined a long time in hiding at the time of the seizure of power by French and lives in small roles of representation in film: he starts at the screen with a role in Eugenia Montijo ( 1944 ) by Jos Lpez Rubio.

He received the Best Actor at Cannes for Elisa, my love of Carlos Saura in 1977.
