El-Assas is a small valley of Thebes -west, which extends between Deir el-Bahari and Dra Abu el-Naga. It is the site of an ancient necropolis, which includes dozens of private tombs of nobles and high officials of the Middle Kingdom (-2022/-1650) and the New Kingdom (-1549/-1080) of the Third Intermediate Period (-1080/-656) and the beginning of the Late Period (-656/-332), but mainly nineteenth dynasty (-1295/-1186) and XX th Dynasty (-1186/-1069). However, the most majestic tombs date from the late period.
