Chu State
Chu () was a Chinese state periods of Spring and Autumn and Warring States , established on the river Yangtze. It was formed in antiquity by the expansion of Han southward in the areas occupied by the ethnic Miao who preserved the rituals and ancient beliefs.
Known originally as the Jing (), then Jingchu (), the state occupied at the height of his power of vast tracts of territory including the present provinces of Hunan , Hubei , Chongqing , Henan and parts of Jiangsu. Its capital was Yingdu. He annexed the Yue in -334.
It is half of the works in the collection of classic songs of Chu (Chu ci).
