Alfred Hawthorn Hill was born on 21 January 1924 at Southampton , the city where he and his brother have spent the benches of the College of Taunton. During the Second World War, Alfred, who was nicknamed Alfie, is sent to the School of Bournemouth. Having completed studies, Alfie finds work as a milkman in Eastleigh , bridge operator and then as, driver, and ended up putting one foot in the entertainment industry by becoming assistant director.
