Ass is the common name given to certain species of mammal quadrupeds medium and long ears of the family of horses. The best known of donkeys is the common donkey ( Equus asinus ) that was domesticated and from which many breeds have been selected.

Ass is the common name usually given to male animals. The female bears the name of the little donkey and, of colt.
Description
The characteristics of the donkeys are:
- their ears are longer than other equines ;
- their eyes are directed more forward than those of domestic horses ;
- their dress is usually gray except on the belly, nose and eye are white. Domestic breeds may be predominantly black, as the black ass of Berry , or brown, like the mule Poitou donkey , or white, as white donkey in Egypt. The gray breeds also have a looming black cross on their backs, called " cross of St. Andrew. " Wildlife have a dress going from gray to brown sand, brown or red in the kiang or wild ass of Tibet ;
