Summary |
Biography
"Coming from a family of minor aristocracy where politics and literature have always gone well together, it reached almost from his first story, Hygiene de l'assassin ( 1992 ), a readership that has never known his ancestors. Its production ranges between text content more openly autobiographical as lovers Sabotage ( 1993 ) and Fear and Trembling ( 1999 ) and more stories like fictional Mercury ( 1998 ) and The Coal ( 1994 ), a play. In this writer, a form of cruelty and humor mixes with a romanticism that delve into the world today. "

Amelie Nothomb stirs controversy among some writers because of his bestsellers. Some describe his work and his eccentricity as selling points before anything else: "It's that miss Nothomb has not only admirers but also some detractors who accuse him this and that, including its celebrity. Amelie Nothomb tells part of his childhood in his novels Metaphysics of the tubes , Sabotage love and Biography of hunger as well as in Neither Eve nor Adam. Daughter of the diplomat Patrick Nothomb , that childhood is punctuated by constant removal at the whim of paternal affection. Particularly because of his housekeeper-San Japanese Nishio she considered his second mother, she saw his departure from Japan, "the land of beauty", for China, "Country of ugliness," as an exile and saw the other family travel as many successive uprooting. But also as a "cultural nomadism that multiplies his curiosity and strengthens its precocity" . It tells in Biography of hunger how she plunged with his sister Juliet , in books, potomania , alcohol infant and anorexia. Adult, his degree in philology pocket, Amelie Nothomb returned to Japan to work as an interpreter (she speaks Japanese spoken) and thinks there permanently. She enters a large Japanese company and stayed a year. An unfortunate experience that romance in Fear and Trembling to be crowned by the French Academy. Afterwards, she returned to Belgium and sent the manuscript of his novel Hygiene de l'assassin to many publishers. Albin Michel published it in 1992.
In 2004, she was in her 53 th manuscript , "The overwhelming majority . Is also called "body of his novels," said Amelie Nothomb writing since the age of seventeen years .
Between 2000 and 2002 , she wrote seven pieces for the French singer RoBERT. She romance life of the singer in Robert of proper names , appeared in 2002.
In his novel written in 2009, Le Voyage d'Hiver , Amelie Nothomb reunites with his favorite themes: self-deprecating (on the condition of writer), suicide, love, the existence of inconsistency if not attached look at one fact of life (here: love).
In 2010 she published her nineteenth novel: A form of life.
