Airbrush
The airbrush is a method of painting which is based on the same principle as the spray paint used by bodybuilders.
Summary |
Airbrush (airbrush in English) is a miniature spray gun which is the size of a pen (more or less large depending on usage). The main interest is to paint or stain any medium with an infinite number of mediums (paints, pigments , inks) without contact with the substrate. This characteristic is responsible for his invention in the years 1880 to 1900. Charles L. Burdick a watercolorist American who sought to apply layers of paint with water on each other without changing the previously filed a patent in 1893 but a U.S. patent in 1888 described the same device.
Operation
The airbrush works by two elements:
- The compressed air source can be a compressor special air filtered and regulated, or for occasional use, a single bomb of compressed air.
- The Medium: The medium is the term used for the spray (paint, oil , acrylic , ink , watercolor, pigment, etc.)..
Thanks to action taken by the user, the air vaporizes the medium of very thin in the form of a cone which can make following the removal of tiny details (below the size of a human hair) or cover a larger surface to paint funds or degraded by example.
The distance between the airbrush and the support determines the amount of medium deposited to cover more or less, and therefore to apply some important nuances to painting done.
Types of Airbrushes
There are two types of guns: guns and double action.
- Single action airbrushes, with which it can only modulate the flow of injected air;
- Double action airbrushes, with which we can not only modulate the airflow, but also the flow of paint.
We prefer a single action or to start painting large surfaces united by cons to make details of degraded or special effects, using a double action airbrush is required. In this case, usually the press of the trigger increases the air pressure, while the advance or decline increases and decreases the flow of ink.
